Brian Pencil: My name is Brian Pencil and I am a freshman at Ohio Northern University.

Recorder: Okay. How many years have you attended OCSS?

Brian Pencil: This is my first year.

Recorder: Okay. Other than this session, which has been your favorite session?

Brian Pencil: I really enjoyed the session where we talked about artifacts and how hands on activities can really improve student learning abilities.

Recorder: Uh huh, what is the benefit of attending OCSS?

Brian Pencil: A really great benefit is bringing all these great minds and ideas together and spreading good ideas around so that everyone can utilize them in their classrooms.

Recorder: Okay, so how do you see using digital history in your classroom?

Brian Pencil: I see it a great idea to preserve history that maybe might get forgotten or not recorded any other way it’s good for future generations to easily access it and be able to use it for their own research.

Recorder: Can you think of, like, a project you would want to do, or a specific way you would want it in your classroom?

Brian Pencil: Maybe we could interview locals who have insight or personal experience with different situations regarding the history of the location.

Recorder: Okay, so it’s tied locally. What if it were a national event, like a local reaction to a national event.

Brian Pencil: Yeah, you could have historical accounts or people who saw firsthand the experiences that have happened all over our country throughout history.

Recorder: Okay, that’s it.

Brian Pencil: Alright, sounds good.

Recorder: Thank you.

Brian Pencil: Yep!
